Description
Qualifications:
-Have a deep commitment to Christ and the church.
-Is an active member in good standing in an
evangelical church.
-Is committed to missions especially ministry
among Aboriginal peoples.
-Have leadership abilities and experience and
a vision for ministry.
-Journalistic training or at least two years
editorial experience
-Works well as a team player
-Cross-cultural experience is an asset.
Editor’s Primary Objective
The Editor’s primary objective is to
oversee and be involved in the production of periodicals that evangelize,
disciple, equip, counsel, encourage, influence and inform Aboriginal people.
Responsibilities
Indian Life Newspaper
Primary Purpose: To produce a stand-alone periodical for evangelism.
1. To work in concert with the Executive Director
in overseeing the direction of Indian Life Newspaper.
2. To be involved in the writing and gathering
of Aboriginal evangelical testimonies from a diverse background of
churches.
3. To correspondence with writers and obtain
reprint permissions as well as see that writers receive checks for the
writing contributions.
4. To be involved in the gathering and writing
of positive, relevant news articles that will capture the attention of
non-Christian Aboriginal people.
5. To oversee the production of Indian Life
Newspaper as it relates to scheduling and general aesthetics.
6. To work along with the Art Director in the
production of the newspaper and other publications and books.
7. Develop and maintain board-approved budgets.
Books and promotional literature:
1. To work with the Executive Director and
the staff to come up with appropriate titles.
2. To edit and oversee the layout of the books
and publications.
3. To handle contracts and scheduling with
printers.
4. Register copyrights with Copyright Office.
It is required that the Editor agrees with the Doctrinal Statement of Indian
Life Ministries, Mission Statement, Purpose Statement, Goals and Objectives
and agrees to abide by the staff handbook.
